after working with another police labor union in the early 80s, Joe realized that there was a need for an organization to provide better service for law enforcement than what currently existed. As collective bargaining legislation for the protective services loomed as a strong possibility, he put together an organization that would provide this and other legal and labor programs for members. MAP was incorporated in 1984, and utilizing his police experiences and prior history in police labor, hit the ground running when collective bargaining legislation was approved in 1985. As president and founder, Joe still leads MAP with a local elected Board, affiliate attorneys, accountants, and a tremendous office staff which serve over 7,500 members (and growing) in over 150 chapters regionally. Joe has an Associate of Applied Science in law enforcement and a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice. Joe retired from the Bolingbrook Police Department in 1999 after 26 years in patrol, narcotics, and the detective bureau, when his transition to full time MAP president was completed.
